Romona Keveza is the famed designer responsible for the lovely tea-length gown Cheryl Hines wore to exchange vows with Robert F. Kennedy Jr. over the weekend. The gorgeous designer gown was perfect for an outdoor wedding at the Kennedy family’s Hyannisport estate, and since everyone loves to know all about the dress, Keveza has stepped up to share details about her creation.

The fabric for the dress is one that Keveza used 14 years ago when she first began her business, and hasn’t used since. She recently brought the fabric out again with the intention of using it for another gown, and thus created the dress Hines wore to say, “I do,” over the weekend. Keveza describes the gown as very Jackie O., and even says the fabric and the style were inspired by the famous fashion icon, and aunt to the groom.

“I feel it’s almost as though Jackie was there at her wedding, giving her blessings to Cheryl who was wearing a dress inspired by her, and to Robert Kennedy Jr. It’s quite magical in many ways,” Keveza says of the dress she designed for Hines.

As for the actress, Keveza complimented her on being a pleasure to work with. Hines contacted Keveza following her engagement and asked the designer to send some dresses her way, and asked that she keep the look timeless and modern.

“I sent her some pictures and she selected three dresses, but I had a pretty good idea of what one she would pick. And sure enough, the very first dress she tried on was the one she fell in love with,” Keveza confirms. The gown is a tea-length dress made with a pearl-beaded fabric. The top is strapless and the gown features a thin belt at the natural waist, perfect for a bride on her wedding day.
