He was hired by Colorado from Jackson State, an FCS school, in December. It's a move that has paid immediate dividends, with the Buffaloes sitting at a perfect 2-0 record heading into Week 3.

Sanders has been given the affectionate nickname of 'Coach Prime' although not everybody knows the origin of it.

Why is Deion Sanders called Coach Prime?

During his playing days, from high school right through to the big leagues of the NFL, he was known as "Prime Time". Therefore, naturally, when he became a coach, that nickname was adapted to suit his new role, and thus the name "Coach Prime" was born.

"We were on our way home on the bus and my homie says 'You know what, man? You're Prime Time,'" Sanders told the Jimmy Fallon Show.

"I said 'you're right.' So, it was birthed from there."
